BCC is fully engaged with the regulators in mainland Europe and the UK to ensure that regulations relating to health and safety do not adversely affect the Industry. There are many challenges facing the industry in the field of health and safety.
A full programme of sector seminars is underway advising member companies of the implications of REACH, the new European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals that came into force on 1st June 2007.
A comprehensive inventory of chemicals used in the industry and a register of all suppliers has been prepared to help guarantee maximum communication up and down the supply chain.
