Vesuvius is a global leader in molten metal flow engineering, providing a full range of engineering services and solutions to its customers worldwide, principally serving the steel and foundry industries. To strengthen our ongoing research and development activities in our Advanced Refractories division we are seeking highly motivated and creative individuals to join our Barlborough R&D Centre to work on ironmaking and steelmaking refractories and to support new and existing market-places through innovating product development and application solutions. 
Key Responsibilities:
The R&D Engineer will lead, as well as participate, cross functional research projects, and being responsible for delivering refractory solutions and other technical support through laboratory based research and field trials. They will work closely with the Marketing, Commercial and Operational teams to identify customer needs and market opportunities primarily in steelmaking and ironmaking applications.
The Lead Research Engineer will have the expert knowledge and practical experience in ironmaking frontside castable, taphole clay, steelmaking or industrial processing, and taking the technical and managerial lead in new product development, supporting the commercial and operation teams to deliver the business targets. The job holder will be responsible to provide extensive technical expertise and refractory know-how in supporting the raw materials selection, manufacturing and applications of existing and new products.
The ideal candidates will have a relevant university degree / work experience within R&D environment. Applicants for the Lead Research Engineer positions will ideally have a second degree or equivalent experience and will have worked in a refractory or steel industrial environment.
• Industry working experience or research and development experience preferred.   • University degree in Ceramics, Materials Science, Chemistry or similarly related disciplines. • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work across multifunction • Fluent in English, written and verbal
